Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of the Renta platform. It is incorporated into and forms part of Renta's Terms of Service. Violation may result in account suspension or termination.
1. Prohibited Uses
1.1 Illegal Activity
- Conducting any activity that violates applicable laws
- Renting or listing illegal equipment
- Facilitating transactions involving controlled substances or stolen property
- Operating without required business licenses or permits
1.2 Regulatory Non-Compliance
- Renting equipment without required operator licenses
- Failing to collect or remit applicable taxes
- Violating local zoning or licensing requirements
- Renting to individuals who don't meet legal age or licensing requirements
1.3 Fraud and Misrepresentation
- Providing false business information
- Listing equipment you don't own or aren't authorized to rent
- Misrepresenting equipment condition, features, or specifications
- Bait-and-switch pricing
- Creating fake accounts, bookings, or reviews
1.4 Discriminatory Practices
Refusing to rent based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any protected characteristic, in violation of Title II of the Civil Rights Act (42 U.S.C. §2000a) and applicable state/local laws.
1.5 Unsafe Practices
- Knowingly renting defective or unsafe equipment
- Failing to disclose safety hazards
- Providing false safety information
1.6 Payment and Financial Abuse
- Circumventing Renta's payment processing
- Processing payments for unrelated transactions
- Operating a business on Stripe's Restricted Businesses list
2. Prohibited Content
- Defamatory, obscene, or threatening content
- Content that infringes intellectual property rights
- Fake or manipulated reviews
- Spam or unsolicited communications
Listing standards: Accurate current photos, truthful descriptions, transparent pricing, current availability, and accurate safety information are required.
3. Prohibited Technical Activity
- Attempting to access other tenants' data or accounts
- Circumventing security controls or RLS policies
- Reverse engineering the platform
- Introducing malware or conducting DDoS attacks
- Automated scraping or data extraction without consent
- Downloading renter PI for purposes unrelated to rental operations
4. Tenant Operational Standards
- Respond to customer inquiries within 24 hours during business hours
- Maintain all listed equipment in safe, operational condition
- Maintain adequate commercial liability insurance
- Ensure waivers are reviewed by a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction
- Comply with all applicable data protection laws (see DPA)
5. Enforcement

Immediate termination for: illegal activity, fraud, knowingly renting unsafe equipment, data breaches, Stripe account suspension, or threats of violence.
No refund of prepaid fees upon AUP-violation termination. Appeals may be filed within 15 days to abuse@getrenta.io.
6. Reporting Violations
Report AUP violations to abuse@getrenta.io with the account or listing in question, a description of the violation, and supporting evidence.
7. Changes to This Policy
Renta may update this AUP at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email.
